Does the Baratza Encore in white get yellowed or discolored over time? So many white appliances do, so that in 5 years, they look off-white or even yellow and it's a bad look.
Can any longtime owners of the Encore in white comment on this?

2022.01.20 14:07 shub2000 New to film, need help with a thrifted cam
Yo, I recently picked up a Pentax zoom 105-r. I loaded in a roll of lomo 800 and went out and about and took a ton of pics. When I dropped my roll off at the lab they called me up the next day and told me the roll was all blank (I am told this is a rookie mistake lmao). Anyways, I opened up the film load-in area of the back of my cam and experimented with a roll of film I didn't care about. This is what I did:
- Tested the uptake of the film and found that when I feed the film in, the camera automatically winds the film as it should.
- However, after the initial uptake of the film the camera does not wind the roll to exposure #1, I tested this by marking my film lightly with a pen and taking pictures (I did this since Im using an auto). After clicking a few times I open the back up again and the film is still at the same position as before (which I knew from the mark on the film).
Note: My cam's exposure counter is not working so I had to take some extra steps via the film marks.
Note 2: There is also a chance that the film is ALSO not being exposed properly within the chamber. Perhaps the first roll of film WAS winding correctly, but just not being exposed right. My tester film has been handled around a lot so maybe my cam just cant wind that particular roll of film.
I was wondering if anyone could help me solve this issue and get my cam to wind to consecutive exposures on my film strip. Any help would be much appreciated.

2022.01.20 14:07 joellephillips 3rd-party international shipping
This is my first post in this group. I am hoping to get some insight on some thing I have been trying to figure out for a few months now.
I’m coming up on the fourth year of my business. And at the start of the pandemic I had to disable my international shipping. For obvious reasons I am American based and shipping overseas became a problem with the Trump administration.
I used to use a program called “webinterpret” it was a horrible experience. But I did like the set up in which all I had to do was add a plug into my Shopify store and print out a shipping label and they would send my product to a warehouse and then add a different label to ship it to my customer overseas.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a new program that would offer something similar with much better customer service experience? I greatly appreciate any advice. Have a wonderful day

2022.01.20 14:07 autistic-narwhal I see so many people advertising their nudes and on omegle. Why do people want to buy them? Porn is free. Based on the amount of posts there seems to be a huge market for this. Who the hell is honestly interested in paying for random girls on the internet when porn is legit free?

2022.01.20 14:07 nick2938 My first ever quarter mile attempt in 15 degree weather on all season tires lmfao. I'm stage 3 on e30. 2 or 3 seconds wasted just trying to get tires to hook in 1st. Also shifted to 3rd right around 55 mph which is why my 0 to 60 time is so bad. Anyways that was a fucking blast lol.

I saw some posts regarding the Richmond warehouses being backlogged. Anyone know if this is resolved yet? I'm planning to buy a V-day gift, but I want to make sure it can arrive by then. If not, I'll probably end up trying to get something in-store.

2022.01.20 14:07 mitchdwx My key disappeared in the washer, then reappeared over a year later in a different one
About a year and a half ago I was living in a rented house. The house key the owners gave me had kind of a fuzzy white string attached to it, and being the procrastinator I am, I never attached it to my main key ring. One night I went to do laundry, and after I started the wash and the lid was locked, I realized I had left my key in the pocket of my jeans. When the load was done, I decided to look for it. I checked the pockets of the jeans multiple times and found nothing. I checked inside the washer too and didn’t see the key. I thought maybe it would reappear in the dryer, but it was nowhere to be found. After half a day of freaking out and searching everywhere for it, I remembered that they left me a spare key, so I went and made copies of that and continued on with my life, assuming the original key was lost forever.
Less than a year ago I moved from that house to an apartment about 10 minutes away with an in-unit washer and dryer. A few weeks ago I was doing laundry, and when I was unloading the dryer, I saw a key with a fuzzy white string attached to it. The string had shriveled a bit in the wash, so it took me a few seconds to realize that it was the exact same key I lost over a year ago! Just to be sure, I compared it to the copy I made, which is still on my key ring for some reason, and it was a perfect match.
I’ve been trying to think of an explanation, and the best thing I can come up with is that it must have lodged itself into the pocket of the jeans I had left them in, or maybe one of my other clothes. But if that’s the case, why couldn’t I find it when I thoroughly searched for it while folding that load of laundry over a year ago? And why hadn’t I felt it at all in any of my pockets? Why did it take over a year to randomly reappear in a load of laundry?

2022.01.20 14:07 ajaxsinger Beta Swap for novel-length manuscript?
I have a manuscript that needs a second round of beta reads. I'm a "big five" published YA sci-fi writer who's looking to make the transition into adult sci-fi and I need some feedback on this story. In return, I'll read and critique your manuscript or if you don't have one and are just starting out, I'll trade a read for a few hours of zoom/email story consulting -- something I do professionally.
Here's a link to the first few pages so you can get a taste.
Take a look and DM me if you're interested.
Thanks in advance, y'all!
Here's a very rough version of the query letter to give you some idea of the story:
Danegai, a strangely perfect island colony on a distant planet was named by its first human visitor. When she arrived, she found a perfect world, prefabricated and ready for human occupancy by an unknown Creator who invited her to become The Ferrier -- bringing individuals from Earth, one at a time. She told the people she collected that they were “Chosen,” though she never said exactly for what or why. She made the journey back and forth 715 times -- 40 days by ship time, 6 years Earth-side, for 4,400 hundred Earth years -- before picking up Albert Pardo-Goldman, a budding disappointment to himself and all who know him, who would be her last passenger.submitted by ajaxsinger to scifiwriting [link] [comments]
Albert didn’t mean to become an interstellar traveler. He joined the Ferrier because he was high and he’d had a bad day and immediately regretted his decision. When the Ferrier died of old age four days into their 20-day journey, leaving him alone with Cerberus, her hyper-intelligent talking dog, he’s sure there’s been a mistake of galactic proportions.
Albert arrives in Danegai to find a community at the end of its innocence. The Ferrier, long considered a prophet, is gone and with her the very assumption of purpose for the 2500 people who live there, descended from the Chosen, who have existed under the assumption that they were there for a purpose which would be revealed by the Ferrier when the Choosing was complete.
Albert, as the Last Chosen, is tasked with uncovering the true Purpose behind Danegai and he must do so before the schisms which are already threatening the small community destroy it. But learning the Purpose means leaving on a possibly-suicidal trip to explore the rest of the planet, facing unimaginable peril in a hostile environment where he could come face to face with whatever Gods or monsters created Danegai. If he doesn’t go, though, the community will devour itself and him with it.
ALBERT, THE LAST is an adult science fiction story, which exists at the crossroads between Venus on the Half-shell by Kilgore Trout, The Left Hand of Darkness, by Ursula K. Le Guin, Cat’s Cradle, by Kurt Vonnegut, and The Last Starfighter. It is complete at 88,000 words and explores themes of purpose and connection.
I am previously published -- the author of the well-reviewed, inventive sci fi young adult novel, STRANGE DAYS (Putnam BYR, 12/18). I live in Los Angeles, California, but grew up in Seattle and hold a Masters in Education from Seattle University. When not writing, I teach high school in South Los Angeles as well as courses in young adult novel-writing and story structure through the Dallas Writers’ Workshop.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
